The client wanted create a development of the highest quality, which will be sympathetic to the existing buildings and which will respect the heritage this area of Birmingham.
The site is located within Birmingham city centre at the junction of Holloway Head and Florence Street into a rapidly growing area in terms of architectural style, residential development, employment and services development.
Existing 76 Holloway Head is a 4 storeys building with concrete interior structure, brick exterior walls finishes and accessible terrace roof. At the lower ground floor level there is a commercial unit with storage spaces, staircases, lift
and a service room.
The proposed development is for conversion of existing warehouse with 2.5metres front extension of the entire existing building and erection of additional five storeys, in order to create 11 luxury residential units (10 x Two bedroom flats and 1 x Penthouse), car parking at lower ground floor and A3 (restaurant/café) / A4 (drinking establishment) / A5 (hot food takeaway) mixed use commercial units at lower ground and ground floor levels.
Holloway Head has been built and maintained successfully since 2008, it is now currently used as a hotel.
